Bienvenidos-Welcome

On behalf of the University of New Mexico and the policy summit planning group, it is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to participate in this "Policy Summit on Latino Higher Education, Its National Economic Impact," scheduled for June 5-7, 2008. The policy summit is hosted by the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, our beautiful city in the Land of Enchantment.

The University family, the summit planning group and the summit logistics team have been hard at work to make your participation in a process that is designed to address critical, educational and economic issues that have far reaching implications for this Nations' economy and for the future of our Hispanic and Latino Communities a most successful and enjoyable experience.

You have been identified as a potential participant in this process to add valuable leadership and experience to this Policy Summit and share in cross-sectional dialogue with other Hispanic/Latino Leaders representing different segments of our communities from through out the Southwest and others parts of the nation.

We are all very pleased to have the opportunity to be part of such an historic event that is focused on bringing structural and programmatic changes through a policy development process that enhances educational and economic opportunities for Hispanic and Latino students and our communities. This cannot be accomplished without a far-reaching consensus-building Summit designed to achieve levels of success needed at a time that is crucial to this nation.

Thank for your interest and desire in making this a truly productive and successful policy summit.
